Days 31 to 38 Queen Mary 2

Days 31 to 38 Queen Mary 2

When:  August 21 to 28

Where:  Atlantic Ocean from Southampton UK to New York City

Weather:  Mostly cloudy. Some fog.  Then getting warmer and sunnier each day.

What:  Transatlantic Oceanliner.  The Queen Mary 2 is not considered a cruise ship but an oceanliner that is built specifically for the voyage between UK and USA and can handle the rough surf and weather of the Atlantic.

Who:  Dan, Brent, Don, Judy (former neighbours in Vancouver)

And new friends Michelle and Gini. This was dressup night and masquerade.

Workout: smaller gym that was sometimes quite full. Many amateurs (those that only workout when on holiday, and only because if makes them feel better about eating and drinking too much - yes, I am judgemental as they’re frequently in my way!)

Walking: round and round the ship.  One mile is three complete rounds.

Sunday 13.66 Monday 10.97 Tuesday 8.55 Wednesday 7

Thursday 6.39 Friday 9.51 Saturday 12.11 km

Wine:  Many many bottles.  Lovely wine pairing event with French wine. Also discovered an Albariño from Portugal.   Delicious.

Whine:  The internet,  which costs each of us $20 a day, is absolute crap.  Although we did find a corner on the ship where it was tolerable.

Whisky:  A lovely tasting evening with new friends who are our neighbours in the restaurant. Except I drank this delicious minty green drink called Hafenschlick

Wtf: we're passing by where the Titanic lies on the ocean floor.   But why are they pointing it out on the map!

Wild: The water temperature is almost always higher than the air temperature and by the time we reached New York, the water was 27c!

Also wild: It took us 20 min to leave our room, walk down the stairs, collect our luggage, get through US immigration, and we were on the street and in a cab. The immigration officer didn't ask us a single question.

Wildlife: Dolphins! Sorry, I wasn't quite fast enough for a pic.  There were several whale sightings as well, but I did not see them.

Water: What else but the Atlantic Ocean.  Somewhere in the distance is Newfoundland.

Wonderful: The ship is beautiful.

Our main dining area.  The lady to the left doesn’t look too happy with me for taking a photo with her in it.

We had the same dining table the entire voyage.
