Days 27 to 30 Wales and Windsor 


When:  17 to 20 August

Where:  Small town in Northern Wales and Windsor

Weather:  All over the place.  Wales was drizzly.  Windsor was an absolute deluge of rain (that I drove through) and then hot, and then variable with rain, sun, rain, and about 23C

What:  Mostly just touring around.  Seeing the sites of North Wales and Southern England.


Who:  Just us

Workout: At the hotel. Very nice little gym, but the ladies doing power aerobics to rap music was just a bit much.

Walking: 9.67, 4.38, 14.15, 3.63 km

Wine:  Still mostly NZ Sauvignon Blanc.  But 7 new types from all over at our pairing dinner.

We also went to a very nice winery in Kent and got some bubbles. 


Whine:  Our time in UK is coming to an end.

Whisky:  None really, but there was some in this nice bar:


Wtf: These were near the Monument to the Magna Carta.  No idea what they were supposed to represent, but reminded me of The Blair Witch Project.

Wild: The roads in North Wales.  I have dash cam footage that I will try to upload one day.

Also, Windsor is full of ‘baby roundabouts’.  Tiny little ones that are basically a metre circle in the intersection.  Its almost like having to relearn how to use these things!

Wildlife: Just these birds.  Countrymen of ours but I think they’re considered an invasive species:

Water: The River Thames.  I had no idea this was the Thames until I looked on the map.  Its so small west of London!


Wonderful: The room at the Fairmont Windsor Park. Just beautiful.  And two bathrooms!

Day 10 to 12 St Andrews, Scotland

Day 10 to 12 St. Andrews Scotland  When:  July 30 to August 1 Where:  St. Andrews Scotland Weather:  Generally nice and sunny.  A bit cool and cloudy Sunday morning, but nice in the afternoon What:  Just mostly relaxing.  Trying to understand why golf is so terribly exciting to so many. Who:  Just us and some very nice staff. Workout: Restarted working out in the hotel gym.  Very well equipped. Walking: Around the golf course mostly. Wine:  Shiraz is popular.  New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc still rules Whine:  Narrow roads!  Whisky:  Just this bit of tackiness Wtf: dodging golf balls while walking the golf course!  And the roundabouts!  They’re everywhere.  I’ve mastered the first and second exits.  The third?  Not so well.  The GPS has had to recalculate quite a few times.  Good thing we’re not in any big rush.
