Days 6 to 9 Durham and Chatton

Durham and Chatton days 6 to 9 When:  Days 6 to 9, 27 to 30 July Where:  Durham and Chatton (just south and just north of Newcastle) Weather:  Mostly overcast, just a bit of spitting, quite warm, about 20 to 22C What:  touring and walking, seeing old friends and new. Who:  Stephen, Caroline, Richard, Harry, Rowan.  Sorry Martin, next time.  We also hope to someday meet Craig and his father. Workout: getting rather lazy Walking: Lovely long walk around Durham, stopping over for a nice lunch at a pub. 7.71, 12.42, 8.38 km And the actual location of Uhtred’s castle:  Brabbenburg! Wine:  Sticking with mostly Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Malbec Whine:  a bird shat on Brent's leg.  A bit of justified whingeing I suppose.  Missing ‘Bat out of Hell’.  Bloody Covid took us down.  We haven’t been very ill at all, but felt it better not to spread it through a theatre.   Whisky:  still none, but getting closer t...

Days 1 to 5 London

Days 1-5 When:  22 to 27 july Where:  London  Weather:  23 to 25 c.  Mostly sunny and nice. A few drops of rain. What:  all the sights of London! Piccadilly! Who:  Dan, Brent, Megan, Finn, Cole, Gareth. Sorry Russell and David.  Next time eh? Workout: at hotel, at Oasis Walking: 6.83 16.51 10.27 10.91 18.41 kms Wine:  a really funky orange wine from Spain. Also, AlbariƱo from Spain  Whine:  too many people. Also, fricken covid. Whisky:  nope Wtf: why are they always taking away our teapots! Also, it seems every time we go to Hyde Park it rains.  Just a bit. Wild: upgrade to a junior suite at The Savoy.  Thanks Russell! The room is fabulous. Wildlife: many kestrel at Heathrow; some sort of grouse at Hyde Park: Water: River Thames Wonderful: the Spanish take away that we discovered in 2019. Day 3 Cambridge

  Day 3 Cambridge  When:  Sunday 24 July  Where:  Cambridge Weather:  Sunny and warm.  29c What:  day trip to Cambridge by train Who:  Ken, Liv, Lachlan, Findley, Rhonda, and a bunch of Cambridge book club members, and spouses, and kids, who were all just awesome! Workout: nope Walking: 10.27 kms and then ended up here.  Is that a good thing? Wine:  sauvignon blanc from New Zealand  Whine:  kings cross is just a bit chaotic. Whisky:  lots of discussion but no actual drinking  Wtf: Tourists that hire a punt and have no clue how to use them.  We hired a driver (punter?) Wild: narrow single lane roads with  60 mph speed limit! Wildlife: Canada geese Water: the river/canal in Cambridge  Wonderful: Ken and Liv and their Scottish/English/Canadian hospitality.
